Historic Stroll in Old Kinsale
About
Join Don Herlihy or Barry Moloney on the Historic Stroll in Old Kinsale for an engaging and colourful account of the development of Kinsale from its beginnings as a medieval walled town to the sinking of the Lusitania in WWI.
Kinsale was a strategic naval base during the conflict for New World treasure, and it was a beachhead for the last Spanish Armada leading to The Battle of Kinsale in 1601. It was described as an important hub on a chief trade route and also as a place of refuge for British war ships. Dampier and Robinson Crusoe also stopped here.
The Historic Stroll in Old Kinsale is a leisurely walk and suitable for all ages. Barry specialises in school visits and is a member of the Heritage in Schools scheme.
They conduct tours daily from mid March through October, with extra morning tours from May through September. Private group tours may also be arranged to suit your particular interests.
