Despite sharing the rocky 'lunar' landscape of The Burren, Murrooghtoohy has its own distinctive flora (such as maiden fern) that flourishes in bordered gullies known as 'grykes'. Roam the craggy landscape, or venture out on the 26km Black Head Looped Walk from Fanore Beach, all the way through Black Head, Gleninagh Pass, Cappanawalla, Feenagh Valley and Ballelly.
Get there early to secure a parking space along the informal lay-by.
